What TVL tells you
Total value locked is the dollar value of the tokens users have deposited in a chain's DeFi apps: lending markets, exchanges, staking and so on. It is a rough measure of how much capital trusts and uses a network. Because TVL is counted in dollars, it rises and falls with token prices, so compare the 7-day and 30-day change with the market as a whole before reading too much into it.

Why can TVL change without new deposits?
